At JCS Immigration and Visa Law Office, our team of Los Angeles Immigration Attorneys have helped hundreds of clients with cases at immigration court in Los Angeles as well as around Southern California and the entire United States. During the recent Government Shutdown, however, non-detained cases have been suspended nationwide. The Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) has informed our office that documents in non-detained cases can still be filed during the shutdown but the courts will not process the filings until after the shutdown ends.
Here, in Los Angeles, the immigration court is completely closed, while some courts around the U.S. remain open to accept counter filings. Our Los Angeles Immigration lawyer advises to comply with all location immigration court orders and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) filing deadlines during the shutdown.
