U.S. Embassy in Caracas Unable to Schedule First Time Visitor Visa Interviews

JCS Immigration and Visa, Los Angeles immigration attorney’s office, monitors news relating to immigration across the country and around the world. We have learned that the United States Embassy located in Caracas, Venezuela is currently unable to issue B-1/B-2 visitor visas to first time applicants at this time.

The U.S. Embassy Caracas issued a notice on their website stating that due to the expulsion of several consular officers and delay from the Venezuelan government in issuing visas for the new incoming officers, the U.S. Embassy does not have sufficient staff to continue to schedule appointments for first time applicants, only in emergency situations.

The Embassy then advises that if you already have an appointment to make sure you appear at the appointed date and time as it is unlikely you will be able to re-schedule the interview in a timely manner.

However, timely appointments are available for renewals of B-1/B-2 visas as long as the visa has not been expired for the period of 1 year or longer.
