Michelle Obama sounded off yesterday on immigration, while participating in the swearing-in of 50 new U.S. citizens. The First Lady of the United States participating to express her ongoing support for stalled efforts in Congress to overhaul United States immigration law.
“Today, here in Washington, folks are still debating whether or not to fix our immigration system, even though just about everyone agrees that it is broken,” Michelle Obama declared at the close of the ceremony, which was being held in the rotunda of the National Archives. “I want you all to know that my husband has made this his top legislative priority because, at the end of the day, this fight isn’t just about principles, its about real people.”
As it nears the anniversary of the date in which the U.S. Senate approved their Comprehensive Immigration Reform bill, last July, our immigration attorneys in Los Angeles are still confident that some approach to overhauling immigration law will happen in the near future.
