Our Los Angeles immigration attorneys have been informed by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that they have now simplified the process for paying the required USCIS Immigrant Fee. The new changes result in a reduction of the information an immigrant must provide to USCIS and a much simpler payment process.
In response to customer feedback and feedback from other U.S. immigration lawyers, anyone can now pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee for an immigrant. This is great news as this means that for example, a family member, friend, employer and attorney or representative can pay the fee as long as they have the immigrant’s Alien Registration Number (A-Number) and DOS Case ID.
What is the USCIS Immigrant Fee?
The USCIS Immigrant Fee is a requirement for all individual arriving aliens immigrating to the United States to assume Lawful Permanent Resident status. The fee is to be paid before the alien enters the U.S. on his or her Immigrant Visa, once obtaining it after the interview at the U.S. Consulate or Embassy abroad. The fee is used for USCIS to process, produce and deliver the Permanent Resident Card (“Green Card”).
This fee is only required for those individuals who are Consular Processing their applications to become a Permanent Resident and is not required for those individuals who are Adjusting their Status in the United States.
