Beginning April 1, 2016, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will begin accepting H-1B petitions that are subject to the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 cap. These visas are designed for U.S. businesses to employ foreign workers in occupations that require highly specialized knowledge in fields such as science, engineering and computer programming. Read about the requirements for H-1B visas here.
The congressionally mandated cap on H-1B visas for FY 2017 is 65,000. USCIS anticipates receiving more than 65,000 petitions during the first five business days of this year’s program (April 1st and 4-8th).
