Social Security Administration Update During Government Shutdown

JCS Immigration and Visa Law Office, located in Los Angeles has communicated with the Social Security Administration office and confirmed that during the Federal Funding Hiatus/Government Shutdown, SSA will not be accepting or processing applications for Social Security numbers or replacement cards during the shutdown.

This is important for any new immigrants receiving Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) as they will be unable to use that to apply for a new Social Security Number until the Government settles on a funding bill.
